Physician-level adoption is rising: a Doximity survey of 3,151 U.S. physicians across 15 specialties found that 54% reported using AI in practice. In the survey's two cohorts, use rose from 47% in April 2025 to 63% in January 2026, a 16-percentage-point increase ([3]). Leading tech firms and startups are deploying AI tools across the care continuum, from hospital back-offices to the patient's bedside, with a growing emphasis on agentic AI and clinical workflow automation. The five profiles below are an editorial selection rather than a market ranking; they illustrate technology companies working in healthcare delivery and life sciences research. 1. IntuitionLabs.ai (Life Sciences AI)
IntuitionLabs.ai is a specialized AI solutions firm focused on pharmaceuticals and life sciences. Its website touts “cutting-edge AI solutions” for pharma companies ([4]). For example, IntuitionLabs offers a Medical Info Chatbot – an AI-powered assistant that delivers instant, compliant drug and treatment information to healthcare professionals ([5]). IntuitionLabs describes the chatbot as providing healthcare professionals and patients with around-the-clock access to medical information and connecting with medical databases, CRM systems, and knowledge bases for up-to-date information.

2. Amazon Web Services (AWS)
AWS is the cloud leader offering a broad portfolio of AI services for healthcare. Its AWS HealthLake platform is an AI-augmented data lake for health records. HealthLake applies ML models to normalize and analyze patient data (labs, notes, etc.), making it easier to identify patterns and outcomes across populations ([6]). In January 2026, AWS released an open-source HealthLake MCP Server that provides natural-language interfaces to HealthLake FHIR resources for developers and data analysts ([7]). Deployments should use the current patched release and least-privilege IAM permissions: AWS disclosed an SSRF issue affecting versions earlier than 0.0.14 that could expose temporary credentials, and cautions that read-only mode is not an IAM security boundary ([8]). AWS also markets HealthScribe, a generative AI tool that transcribes and summarizes doctor-patient encounters into clinical notes. HealthScribe uses large language models to turn recorded visits into structured documentation, reducing administrative burden ([6]). Hackensack Meridian Health became the first health system to deploy a Gemini-powered agent at scale for clinical note summarization, now used by over 7,000 clinicians across 18 hospitals ([13]). Google is also investing heavily in AI agents for healthcare, partnering with Highmark Health, Seattle Children's Hospital, and Humana to integrate generative AI into clinical and member-facing workflows.

IBM's current healthcare AI emphasizes enterprise-grade generative AI through Watsonx. In April 2025, KPJ Healthcare—Malaysia's largest private hospital network—deployed an AI-powered chatbot built on watsonx.ai and Watson Discovery across 30 specialist hospitals for personalized patient services ([15]). IBM continues to leverage its deep expertise in healthcare compliance (HIPAA), HL7, and hybrid cloud to deliver AI chatbots, intelligent document understanding, and data analysis tools to large health systems ([16]).

Microsoft offers healthcare AI primarily through its Azure cloud and has rapidly expanded its clinical AI portfolio. In March 2025, Microsoft launched Dragon Copilot, described as the healthcare industry's first unified voice AI assistant. Built on the Nuance Dragon platform (acquired in 2021), Dragon Copilot combines ambient listening, natural language dictation, and generative AI to streamline clinical documentation, surface medical information, and automate tasks like order placement and referral letters ([18]). Dragon Copilot is now available across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and several European countries. Microsoft's Azure Health Bot service provides tooling for conversational healthcare agents; HIPAA-regulated uses depend on the customer's agreement, configuration, risk analysis, and safeguards ([19]). More broadly, Microsoft's approach is to integrate AI across its cloud and collaboration stack for healthcare. At Microsoft Ignite 2025, the company introduced a Healthcare Agent Orchestrator featuring pre-configured agents with multi-agent orchestration for complex clinical tasks ([20]). Its Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare bundles AI-driven analytics, interoperability tools, and communication platforms to improve care coordination and patient engagement. New medical imaging foundation models—including MedImageParse for 3D CT/MRI analysis—are available in the Azure AI Foundry model catalog ([21]).

Tempus AI pairs genomic sequencing with large-scale real-world data licensing for pharmaceutical customers. For full-year 2025, the company reported data and analytics revenue of roughly $316 million, up about 31% year over year, and disclosed a record total contract value exceeding $1.1 billion, with data agreements signed during the year covering more than 70 pharma and biotech customers, including AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Novartis, and Eli Lilly ([23]). In 2026, Tempus received FDA approval for a tumor-only use of its xT CDx sequencing test for solid tumors ([24]).
Abridge, an ambient clinical documentation company, raised a $250 million Series D in February 2025 at a $2.75 billion valuation, with its ambient AI technology already in use at more than 100 health systems ([25]). Four months later, in June 2025, Abridge closed a $300 million Series E led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Khosla Ventures, nearly doubling its valuation to $5.3 billion ([26]).
Ambience Healthcare closed a $243 million Series C in July 2025, co-led by Oak HC/FT and Andreessen Horowitz with participation from the OpenAI Startup Fund, Kleiner Perkins, and Optum Ventures, lifting its valuation to $1.25 billion and its total funding to $345 million ([27]). The company describes its platform as supporting ambient documentation, coding, and clinical documentation integrity across more than 100 medical specialties, live in outpatient, emergency, and inpatient settings ([28]).
Viz.ai, a medical-imaging AI company best known for stroke-detection software, received FDA 510(k) clearance in June 2025 for Viz Subdural Plus, described as the first and only cleared algorithm for quantifying subdural hemorrhage size on non-contrast CT ([29]), followed by clearance in December 2025 for Viz ICH Plus, an algorithm for quantifying intracerebral hemorrhage ([30]).
Aidoc, another radiology and diagnostic-imaging AI vendor, closed a $150 million Series E in 2026 led by Goldman Sachs with participation from General Catalyst, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Nvidia's venture arm NVentures ahead of a planned IPO, bringing its total funding to more than $520 million ([31]).
PathAI received FDA clearance in June 2025 for its evolved AISight Dx digital pathology platform for primary diagnosis, including a Predetermined Change Control Plan that allows certain future software enhancements without new FDA submissions ([32]). In December 2025, the FDA qualified the AI-Based Histologic Measurement of NASH (AIM-NASH) tool to help pathologists assess MASH disease activity in clinical trials. The FDA states that pathologists remain responsible for the final interpretation and may accept or reject the AI-generated scores ([33]). Labcorp separately expanded its collaboration with PathAI to deploy the FDA-cleared AISight Dx platform across its national network of anatomic pathology labs ([34]).
Epic Systems, the dominant U.S. electronic health record vendor, used its August 2025 User Group Meeting to detail Cosmos AI, models trained on its Cosmos research database of roughly 300 million patient records and more than 16 billion clinical encounters, alongside new AI charting, risk-prediction, and revenue-cycle features ([35]). Ahead of HIMSS 2026, Epic previewed a no-code "Agent Factory" tool intended to let health systems build and manage their own clinical AI agents on top of Epic's platform ([36]).
Butterfly Network received FDA clearance in March 2026 for an AI-powered handheld ultrasound tool that estimates gestational age from a blind-sweep scan in under two minutes, without requiring image capture, interpretation, or manual fetal biometric measurements, the first FDA-cleared tool of its kind ([37]).
Hippocratic AI, which builds patient-facing generative AI agents supervised by a network of clinicians, raised a $141 million Series B in early 2025 that pushed its valuation to $1.64 billion ([38]), then closed a $126 million Series C in November 2025 led by Avenir Growth at a $3.5 billion valuation, bringing total funding to $404 million, with investors including CapitalG, General Catalyst, and Universal Health Services ([39]).
Suki AI, an ambient clinical documentation vendor, expanded its clinical-assistant capabilities in partnership with Google Cloud, using Vertex AI Search for Healthcare to add patient summarization and clinical question-and-answer features on top of its existing documentation, coding, and dictation tools ([40]). In January 2025, Suki announced a strategic investment from Zoom Ventures, bringing its total funding to $168 million and extending a platform partnership that integrates Suki's AI notes into Zoom's clinician workplace tools ([41]).
Taken together, these ten supplementary companies illustrate three distinct patterns in how healthcare AI investment and regulation moved through 2025 and into 2026. First, ambient clinical documentation attracted an unusually concentrated wave of venture capital: by late July 2025, AI medical-scribe startups including Abridge and Ambience Healthcare had announced close to $1 billion in combined new funding for the year, a scale of capital formation that trade press described as evidence investors view ambient documentation as a near-term, defensible wedge into broader clinical workflows rather than a standalone point product ([42]). Second, the cited FDA actions concern product-specific imaging, ultrasound, pathology, and clinical-trial uses rather than broad autonomous decision-making. These examples should not be read as evidence that one category of AI has a faster regulatory pathway than another: FDA marketing authorization evaluates a device against the applicable premarket requirements for its intended use ([43]). Third, the cited valuations for patient- and clinician-facing conversational-agent companies are company-specific financing observations. They do not, by themselves, demonstrate future addressable markets, substitution for clinical labor, or a relative level of clinical-safety validation. For buyers evaluating this landscape, a practical takeaway is that vendor selection increasingly hinges less on which company has raised the most capital and more on which regulatory and evidentiary track record, FDA clearance for imaging and pathology tools, published contract value and customer counts for data licensing, or documented health-system deployment scale for ambient documentation, best matches the specific clinical or administrative workflow being automated.
The five companies in the core selection use AI for healthcare challenges ranging from data analytics and clinical documentation to patient communication and workflow support. A clear trend across 2025–2026 is the shift toward AI agents that can help coordinate multi-step administrative and clinical workflows. They should not be characterized as autonomous clinical decision-makers. For certain clinical decision-support functions to fall outside the device definition, FDA says the software must enable a healthcare professional to independently review the basis for its recommendations so the professional does not rely primarily on them; a function that does not meet this and the other statutory criteria may be subject to FDA oversight as a device ([44]). IBM and Microsoft focus on large enterprise deployments, while AWS and Google enable developers and providers to build custom AI solutions. IntuitionLabs.ai represents a newer entrant specifically targeting life sciences applications, exemplifying how specialized AI companies are emerging to meet niche needs in healthcare.
