Haemonetics SafeTrace Tx is a specialized Transfusion Management Software system, also known as a Blood Bank Information System (BBIS), designed specifically for transfusion laboratories and services. Unlike general pan-pathology laboratory systems, SafeTrace Tx is purpose-built to manage the complexities of transfusion services, operating safely and effectively at hundreds of hospitals, including six of the top ten in the United States.

- Continuity-of-Care: It delivers complete patient testing and transfusion history in a single, consolidated record that follows the patient across all member locations, maintaining a unified patient history and reducing duplicate testing.
- Multi-site Management: It provides extensive Centralized Transfusion Service (CTS) and multi-site functionality, allowing for centralized testing, optimized product utilization, reduced waste, and the ability to perform remote, electronic issue and crossmatches.
- Interoperability: SafeTrace Tx uses the latest communication standards, including HL7®, to seamlessly exchange data with a wide range of external systems and devices. It has robust interfaces for Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and test analyzers. Haemonetics has a global cooperation agreement with Epic® and interfaces with other major HIS vendors like Cerner® and Allscripts®.
- Analytics and Workflow: The system features interactive web-based dashboards and data visualization tools that dynamically turn data into actionable information for operational, management, and quality reporting. It guides users through blood bank-centric workflows to support enhanced productivity.
- Closed-Loop Safety: It integrates with Haemonetics' BloodTrack® software to enhance closed-loop transfusion safety from the blood bank to the patient's bedside.
