SURF

SURF is the collaborative IT cooperative for Dutch education and research institutions. It serves as the central provider of digital infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC), and data management services for universities, research institutes, and University Medical Centers (UMCs) in the Netherlands. The organization enables large-scale scientific research by providing advanced networking, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity services. In the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector, SURF plays a critical role as an infrastructure backbone. It provides the computational power required for complex simulations, genomic sequencing, and medical data analysis through its national supercomputer, Snellius. Through strategic partnerships like Health-RI, SURF facilitates the development of a national health data infrastructure, promoting FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles to accelerate drug discovery and clinical research.
