Thalamus is a comprehensive Software as a Service (SaaS) platform designed to streamline and enhance the Graduate Medical Education (GME) recruitment process for residency and fellowship programs. Founded in 2013, it serves as a centralized, cloud-based solution for interview management, applicant tracking, and data analysis.
The core product, Thalamus Core, provides real-time applicant self-scheduling, advanced waitlist management, and automated itinerary building, significantly reducing the administrative burden on program coordinators. It supports virtual, in-person, and hybrid interview formats, including its own integrated video platform, Thalamus Video, which also integrates with third-party tools like Zoom, Teams, and WebEx.
The platform includes cutting-edge AI/ML-powered modules like Cortex for application screening, holistic review, and blinded review to reduce conscious and unconscious bias and accelerate faculty review time. The Cerebellum analytics dashboard provides robust data reporting, key performance indicators (KPIs), and specialty-wide benchmarking to help programs optimize their recruitment strategy and meet recruitment goals.
Thalamus is a Public Benefit Corporation and is used by program coordinators, program directors, DIOs, GME directors, and applicants across over 800 institutions and 8,000 programs. The platform integrates seamlessly with the AAMC ERAS Program Director's WorkStation (PDWS) via an API, allowing for streamlined data transfer and single sign-on (SSO) capabilities.
