INTELLiVENT-ASV is an advanced, closed-loop ventilation mode developed by Hamilton Medical. It is the next-generation evolution of Adaptive Support Ventilation (ASV®) and is designed to continuously and automatically adjust key ventilator parameters, including respiratory rate, tidal volume, inspiratory time, PEEP, and oxygen, based on real-time physiological inputs from the patient (PetCO2, SpO2, lung mechanics, and spontaneous breathing).
This intelligent mode aims to reduce the number of manual adjustments required, thereby lowering the workload for the healthcare team and allowing clinicians to focus on overall patient strategy rather than routine settings. The clinician sets the patient's targets for oxygenation (SpO2) and CO2 elimination (PetCO2), and INTELLiVENT-ASV manages the controls to keep the patient within the defined target ranges while maintaining lung-protective ventilation strategies.
Key Capabilities:
- Fully Automated Control: Manages both ventilation and oxygenation controllers simultaneously.
- Quick Wean: Actively promotes automated weaning protocols, including controlled Spontaneous Breathing Trials (SBTs), to encourage early extubation.
- Patient Adaptability: Functions as a single mode for both passive (sedated) and active (spontaneously breathing) patients, automatically managing the transition between states.
- Lung Protection: Automatically selects safe driving pressure, mechanical power, and tidal volume based on individual lung mechanics.
- Visual Decision Support: Features a user interface with tools like the Dynamic Lung and Ventilation Cockpit to provide an instant overview of critical parameters.
It is suitable for intubated adult and pediatric patients (weighing 7 kg or more) across various clinical scenarios, including ARDS, COPD, brain injury, and post-cardiac surgery. INTELLiVENT-ASV is available as an optional feature on ventilators like the HAMILTON-G5, HAMILTON-C6, and HAMILTON-C3, and as a standard mode on the HAMILTON-S1.
