CEMBooks is a clinical productivity and operational management tool designed by senior emergency consultants to deliver operational transparency, efficiency, and excellence within acute care systems, such as Emergency Departments (ED) and Intensive Care Units (ICU).
The platform centralizes critical operational data and knowledge, replacing fragmented paper-based processes. Its core functionality revolves around real-time Situation Reports (SitReps), which allow for the quick collation of standardized Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to describe a department's operational status.
A key feature is the automated translation of KPIs into weighted Operational Pressure and Escalation Level (OPEL) thresholds. Based on the calculated OPEL score, the system's escalation engine automatically triggers role-based escalation actions and provides prompts to the nurse in charge, ensuring rapid and appropriate mitigation of identified risks.
Main Features and Capabilities:
- Situation Reports (SitReps): Customised reports for real-time KPI collation and structured narratives.
- Escalation Management: Automated, role-based escalation actions triggered by KPI thresholds, with completion monitoring and analysis.
- Resource Manager: A digital repository for local clinical guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other resources, with clear author attribution and expiration dates for governance.
- Event Logging: Customisable logs for capturing events like patient handover, case management, equipment issues, and quality improvement data in a transparent and searchable timeline.
- Operational Tasking: A module to manage, track, and assign tasks to specific roles, replacing paper-based job lists.
- Organisational Overview: Provides whole-system performance visibility across multiple departments and sites.
CEMBooks is scalable from an individual department to multi-centre trusts and Integrated Care Systems (ICS), making it a solution for medium to enterprise-sized healthcare organizations, particularly within the NHS.
